Medical assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and other health professionals working well.
 |
The duties of medical assistants vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and
physician specialty. In small practices, medical assistants usually are not many different types of tasks, handling
administrative duties and clinical reports directly to an office manager, physician or health care professional. Those in
large practices tend to specialize in a particular area, under the supervision of department administrators.
Physicians assistants should not be confused with medical assistants, to examine, diagnose and treat patients under the direct supervision of a physician.

principles, medication administration and first aid. They study office practices, patient relations, medical law and ethics.

able to put patients at ease and explain physicians' instructions. We must respect the confidentiality of medical information. Clinical duties require a reasonable level of manual dexterity and visual acuity.

assistant with experience or training as an entry-level assistant, which can lead to an increase in wages or employment opportunities.
There are several associations, including the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Association of Medical Technologists (AMT), which certification authority for allocating medical assistants.

may even teach medical and other additional studies to become nurses and other health workers. Administrative medical
assistants may advance to office managers, or qualify for a variety of administrative support positions.

Medical assistants are among the fastest growing professions at this moment, with a growth rate of over 34% in the
decade 2008-2018. Employment opportunities should be excellent, particularly for people with training or experience, and certification.
As the health sector is expanding due to advances in medical technology and the growth and aging of the population,
there will be an increased need for all health care workers. The increasing prevalence of certain conditions such as
obesity and diabetes also increase the demand for health services and medical assistants. The increasing use of medical assistants that allow doctors to treat more patients will help stimulate job growth.
Recognition for Oban Social Work Assistant, Ann Martin
It's the end of a story we reported recently. Ann Martin, social work
with the Wizard of Argyll and Bute Council has been very popular in social work concessions for students of the year organized by the British Association of Social Workers in Scotland. She received
her award from children and early years, Adam Ingram, Minister at a special ceremony held at Edinburgh Castle last month.
Nominated for the prize to someone who uses the service, Ann has
joined the Council for 21 years as a housekeeper in a nursing home. He made his way from there to become a care worker and care of a senior officer before assuming his current position as a social worker.
She is now in its fourth and final year of an Open University BA (Hons) in Social Work, sponsored by the Council after that will be fully qualified social worker.
One of the demands of his career, is that students have completed two courses of 6 months - within your own Council area and one outside.
Anne made her first internship in residence care home Ardfenaig Ardrishaig last year. She is now a fortnight in a group of touring and working with family support Clydebank West Dunbartonshire Council.
The movement means that now only comes home on weekends to see her husband and two teenage children. At this rate
of going, not surprisingly, she says, "I never got this far without the support of not only my family but my friends and colleagues.
"I was surprised and delighted to know that he had been nominated for this award and even more surprised to learn he
had been chosen for this. But it's not just me. It is to everyone who has been an incredible support along the path.
"It has certainly been moments when he doubted he had graduated. M A man of the people rather than an academic, and I struggled to get into the swing of it in the output.
"But I am totally committed to achieving my goal of becoming a qualified social worker. Now I'm in the stretch, and I'm
eager to go home and make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable people in Oban area.
Ann face five candidates for the student social worker BASW the list of the year, from proposals submitted by Scotland.
Argyll and Bute Council's spokesperson for Social Services, Councillor Donald McIntosh, said the recognition is well deserved: "This is a fantastic result and should be extremely proud of Ann.
"Although not a qualified social worker, Anne has had a significant impact on social services in Argyll and Bute for many years.
"With his contagious positive attitude to their work, Ann is admired and respected by his colleagues and users in the same
way. He also launched several innovative initiatives that demonstrate its dedication and commitment to the people who cares.
"The happiness you are getting the recognition nationally. But all we would be happy to accommodate you in Argyll and Bute, when their placement is completed."
Ann Martin deserves all the credit for their achievements possible. It is proof that, for most people, it is more interesting to study when it has the expertise to carry it.
